Shield

Due to the insufficient width of the lot, which did not allow for optimal setbacks from the neighbouring house, the house’s privacy had to be addressed first and foremost. Therefore, instead of a high fence around the property, we built a SHIELD in the shape of the adjacent dividing wall. This gable wall is part of the building’s structural system. It is also slightly taller than the house, so it conveniently covers the garage and the terrace. The surrounding cobbled areas relate in colour to the gable wall and visually create a platform for the single-storey timber building. The property comfortably houses a living room with a kitchen, a bedroom, two children’s rooms and two bathrooms. In addition, from the terrace, the whole family can enjoy an unobstructed view of its apple orchard!
